Fever
If your child has a fever of less than 101°, is still fairly active, and has a pretty normal appetite, then follow the instructions below. If the child has a fever greater than 101°, is lethargic, has a stiff neck, ear pain, throat pain, or has a decreased appetite, contact our office for an appointment. If the directions below do not help, or if there is a fever less than 100° for three or more days, you should bring your child in to be checked.

  1. Administer your child Tylenol or Advil (aspirin should not be given to a child younger than 18 years of age, especially if flu symptoms are present).
  2. You may place your child in a lukewarm tub of water for up to ten minutes to reduce the fever.
  3. Keep clothing light and cool. Overdressing your child may raise his/her fever.
  4. Contact our clinic if more symptoms become present.
